DESCRIPTION:Description: We will discuss a general non-equilibrium setup by
which one can approach the quantum transport problem in one dimension.
One considers a strongly interacting quantum chain with fully coherent
bulk dynamics and driven out of equilibrium in terms of Lindblad
dissipators which only act on degrees of freedom near the boundary\, i.e.
at the ends of the chain. Non-equilibrium state carrying the physical
currents is then approximated as the steady state of the corresponding
Markovian master equation.\n\nI will present several analytical solutions
along these lines and discuss their remarkable algebraic properties. For
example\, in the Heisenberg XXZ chain under extreme boundary driving we
will show that the steady-state density operator of a finite system of
size n is -- apart from a normalization constant -- a polynomial of degree
$2n-2$ in the coupling constant. In the isotropic case we find cosine
spin profiles\, $1/n^2$ scaling of the spin current\, and long-range
correlations in the steady state. Furthermore\, the perturbative (weak
coupling) version of our ansatz [Phys. Rev. Lett. 106\, 217206 (2011)] is
used to derive a novel pseudo-local conservation law of the anisotropic
Heisenberg model\, by means of which we rigorously estimate the spin Drude
weight (the ballistic transport coefficient) in the easy-plane regime.
This closes a long standing question in strongly correlated condensed

DESCRIPTION:Description: \n Naturalness hints to the presence of new
physics at TeV energies. This belief is challenged by the lack of new
physics signals in various experiments and by the discovery of the Higgs
boson with SM properties. After reviewing the virtues and the pitfalls of
the Standard Model I will discuss a unified framework for the Higgs boson
and strong CP axion both arising from the spontaneous breaking of a non-
abelian global symmetry G->H. The Goldstone symmetry of the Higgs is
broken by the SM couplings while the axion shift symmetry is only broken
by the QCD anomaly. Dark matter determines the scale of new physics around
10^{11} GeV so that the electro-weak VEV is obtained by tuning. I
will present explicit examples in terms of SU(n) and SO(n) gauge
theories or Randall-Sundrum theories and show that a 125 GeV Higgs mass
may follow from the Goldstone nature of the Higgs.\nURL:

cold atoms and quasi resonant lasers can be modeled as Brownian particles
with effective long range interactions that look like gravity: this raises
the hope to observe in a lab experiment some peculiarities of long range
interacting systems. After explaining the physical modeling\, I will
highlight two cases: \n-a quasi 1D trap where the effective interaction
looks like 1D gravity\; the theory can be compared to experiments done in
Nice. -a quasi 2D trap where the effective interaction does not derive
from a potential\, and the dynamics may blow-up in finite time. The blow-

DESCRIPTION:Description: In this talk the Hamiltonian mean-field (HMF)
model is focused on mainly. The HMF model is a simple toy model which
shows typical long-range features [1]. For example\, non-equilibrium
quasi-stationary states (QSSs) can be observed in the HMF model [2].
\nThe QSSs are supposed to be associated with stable stationary solutions
to the Vlasov equation. Hence\, finding a stability criterion for
stationary solutions to the Vlasov equation is the first step to
investigate QSSs\, since such a criterion makes it possible to decide
\nwhether a stationary solution can be a QSS or not. The stability
criterion of spatially homogeneous states has been given in the form of
necessary and sufficient condition for the HMF model [2]. Meanwhile\, such
a criterion has not been given explicitly for spatially inhomogeneous
solutions\, since it has been necessary to determine an infinite number of
Lagrangian multipliers associated with the infinite number of Casimir
invariants [3]. In this talk\, it is shown that the problem of Lagrangian
multipliers can be avoided by using the angle-action coordinates [4]. Then
the formal and spectral stability criteria for spatially inhomogeneous

Politi\, Ruffo del 1986 negli ultimi\n30 anni si è sviluppata a Firenze
una intensa attività di ricerca sul legame che\nintercorre fra il numero
di gradi di libertà attivi che partecipano a una\ndinamica caotica e la
topologia della rete che ne sottointende la dinamica\nstessa. In questo
seminario riporterò gli ultimi risultati ottenuti riguardo al\nlegame fra
estensività e topologia in reti (neurali) complesse\, in
particolare\nsoffermandomi su reti con topologia "sparsa". In tali reti il
numero di gradi di\nlibertà\, che partecipa alla dinamica caotica della
rete\, cresce linearmente col\nnumero di nodi della rete stessa\,
suggerendo che il caos in tali sistemi sia\nestensivo\, come in usuali
sistemi con accoppiamento diffusivo. Nonostante che la\ndinamica di queste
reti non possa essere banalmente decomposta nella\ngiustapposizione di
sotto-reti debolmente interagenti come nel caso di sistemi\ndiffusivamente
accoppiati. Questa contraddizione non ha sinora trovato\nsoluzione e

DESCRIPTION:Description: \n Diphoton production is the main background
in searches and studies for a low mass Higgs boson\, decaying in a pair of
photons. Due to current searches and studies at the LHC\, it is desirable
to count with the best theoretical tool to describe this background. In
this talk we'll present the details behind the calculation\, which is
based on the transverse momentum subtraction formalism and we'll show\n
different results obtained using a code that calculates diphoton
production at NNLO in perturbative QCD. We'll talk about the comparison
with the LHC data and Tevatron data\, and we'll discuss why the NNLO is

Vilenkin\, dove molte realizzazioni di algebre legate a funzioni speciali
sono state discusse\, ha pero' messo in evidenza la profonda connessione
tra i due campi della matematica apparentemente distanti.\nSi mostra

generalizzata a Laguerre\, Legendre\, Legendre associati\, armoniche
sferiche\, Jacobi (e probabilmente a tutti i polinomi ortogonali).\n2) che

DESCRIPTION:Description: Negli ultimi anni la congettura AdS/CFT\, esempio
di dualit ́a tra teorie di stringa e teorie di gauge\, ha prodotto delle
importanti novit ́a per quanto riguarda lo studio delle teorie
integrabili interagenti in dimensione maggiore di 2. In particolare le
teorie di Super Yang-Mills (SYM) N = 4 in 4-D e di Super Chern-Simons
(SCS) N = 6 in 3-D sembrano essere integrabili nel limite planare. Mentre
nel caso delle 4 dimensioni siamo ormai prossimi ad una completa
conoscenza dello spettro della teoria\, nel caso di SCS manca la
conoscenza a tutti gli ordini della costante di accoppiamento di una
funzione h(λ)\, fondamentale per la risoluzione del Thermodinamic Bethe-
Ansatz (TBA)\, strumento in grado di predire le dimensioni anomale degli
operatori della teoria. Presentiamo cos ́ı una possibile strada per
calcolare questa funzione\, passando attraverso lo studio e la
classificazione di Wilson Loops supersimmetrici. Il valore di aspettazione
a due loops di queste osservabili riproduce il corretto andamento del
potenziale generalizzato quark- antiquark di una teoria conforme e predice
il valore della dimensione anomala di cusp\, la cui conoscenza a tutti
gli ordini della costante di accoppiamento sar ́a fondamentale per la

la nuova fisica"\n\nIn questo talk introdurro' i concetti principali del
Modello Standard \ndelle particelle elementari e in particolare la
rilevanza della particella di Higgs\nrecentemente scoperta. Descrivero'
poi il problema della naturalezza della massa\ndell'Higgs che suggerisce
la presenza di nuova fisica alla scala del TeV. \nPresentero' infine
l'idea di base dei modelli di Higgs composto che rappresentano\nuna delle
estensioni piu' plausibili del SM.\n\nParte II (Arianna Borrelli)\n\n“Il
ruolo di elementi non-matematici nelle pratiche della fisica teorica
delle alte energie”\n\nL'evoluzione degli ultimi decenni ha portato ad
una crescita esponenziale e poco coordinata di modelli di fisica 'al di
la' del Modello Standard' che presentano un carattere altamente
provvisorio e vengono spesso modificati dagli autori - non a caso chiamati
'model-builders' - da una pubblicazione all'altra. Descrivendo
l'attività' dei model-builders\, il fisico teorico Lisa Randall fa uso di
una metafora linguistica e spiega che\, se la mitica “teoria del
tutto” è la grammatica di una nuova fisica\, i model-builders non
cercano di formularne le regole\, ma di individuarne alcune parole e frasi
che li aiutino a procede per tentativi nella lettura del libro della
natura. Nel mio contributo sosterrò la tesi che\, per meglio comprendere
questa situazione\, è utile guardare ai modelli non come concrete
proposte per nuove teorie\, ma piuttosto come strumenti di scarso valore
epistemico volti ad esplorare le potenzialità di costrutti teorici di
natura ibrida che comprendono\, oltre a determinate strutture
matematiche\, anche elementi espressi verbalmente o tramite il ricorso ad
analogie con altri campi della fisica (in particolare la teoria dello
stato solido). Tali strutture teoriche di carattere ibrido erano già'
presenti negli anni in cui emerse il Modello Standard ed un esempio é
dato dal cosiddetto “meccanismo di generazione della massa” associato
al bosone di Higgs. Sulla base di questo ed altri esempi discuterò' il
ruolo giocato nella fisica teorica da elementi di carattere non
matematico\, e in particolare da argomentazione espresse verbalmente e

usually studied in terms of reduced density matrices\, i.e. by a non
symmetric description which is very useful whenever one of the two
subsystems is to be considered an environment. However\, the loss of
information implied by the partial trace over the environmental degrees of
freedom can have severe consequences. In this work we consider the
dynamical evolution of a composite system in terms of the parametric
representation with environmental coherent states\, which is still non
symmetric but yet exact. General features of the approach\, as well as
some specific results for a paradigmatic model of decoherence\, are
presented\; the effects of the environmental quantum-to-classical
crossover on the dynamics of the principal system are finally

DESCRIPTION:Description: The Kuramoto model of coupled oscillators serves
as a prototype to study spontaneous collective synchronization occurring
in many biological and physical systems\, e.g.\, yeast cell suspensions\,
pacemaker cell network in the heart\, ﬂashing ﬁreﬂies\,
superconducting Josephson junction arrays\, etc. The model involves
overdamped motion of globally coupled oscillators of distributed natural
frequencies. We study the model by including inertial terms and thermal
noise in the dynamics. Inertial terms\, for example\, account for
electrical capacitance of Josephson junction arrays\, while thermal noise
models the inevitable interaction with the environment. For unimodal
frequency distributions\, we study the dynamics in a reduced parameter
space involving dimensionless mass\, temperature\, and width of the
frequency distribution. We show that the dynamics exhibits a
nonequilibrium ﬁrst-order transition from a synchronized phase at low
parameter values to an incoherent phase at high values. In proper limits\,
we recover the known continuous phase transitions in the Kuramoto model
and in its noisy extension\, and an equilibrium continuous transition in a
related model of long-range interactions\, the Hamiltonian mean-field
model. Although eﬀects of noise and inertia on the Kuramoto dynamics
have been explored in the past\, the complete phase diagram has not been
investigated earlier. Our theoretical predictions are compared with
extensive numerical simulations.\nURL:

DESCRIPTION:Description: Availability of highly reactive halogen ions at
the surface of aerosols has tremendous implications for the atmospheric
chemistry. Yet neither simulations\, experiments\, nor existing theories
are able to provide a fully consistent description of the electrolyte-air
interface. In this talk a new theory will be presented which allows us to
explicitly calculate the ionic density profiles\, the surface tension\,
and the electrostatic potential difference across the solution-air
interface [1\,2]. The theory takes into account both ionic hydration and
polarizability [3]. The theoretical predictions are compared to
experiments and are found to be in excellent agreement. Finally\, the
implications of the present theory for stability of lyotropic colloidal
suspensions will be considered [4]\, shedding new light on one of the
oldest puzzles of physical chemistry — the Hofmeister effect [5].\n\n[1]

DESCRIPTION:Description: The mechanism responsible for the breaking of the
Electroweak Symmetry is the only missing ingredient for the complete
theoretical comprehension of Electroweak interactions\, unveiling its
nature is the main goal of the LHC experimental program. The recent
discovery of the Higgs boson\, with properties compatible with the
predictions of the Standard Model\, is the first step in this direction.
On one hand\, this discovery is a brilliant confirmation of theoretical
speculations and of indirect evidences. On the other hand\, it leaves a
number of open issues which suggest that the Higgs particle might be only
the first manifestation of a more rich Electroweak Symmetry Breaking
sector\, with more new particles to be discovered in the future LHC run.
Motivated by the problem of "Naturalness" I will discuss the possibility
of the Higgs boson being a composite particle\, emerging as a bound state
of a new strongly-interacting dynamics\, and I will show how this scenario
can be discovered or disproved at the LHC. I will argue that searching
for "Natural" new physics scenarios\, among which Composite Higgs\, will
change our perspective on the Physics of Fundamental Interactions even

the standard model according to their degree of naturality\, I will
present new class of perturbative models involving elementary scalars in
which the theory simultaneously satisfies the Veltman conditions and is
conformal at the classical level. I will show that such models are very
constrained and thus highly predictive. Among the several examples\, I
will discuss a remarkably simple extension of the standard model in which
the Higgs is predicted to have the experimental value of the mass equal to
126 GeV. The model also predicts the existence of one more standard model
singlet scalar boson with a mass of 541 GeV and the Higgs self-coupling

DESCRIPTION:Description: ``Brane supersymmetry breaking'' occurs in String
Theory when the only available combinations of D--branes and orientifolds
are not mutually BPS and yet do not introduce tree--level tachyon
instabilities. It is characterized by the emergence of a steep exponential
potential\, and thus by the absence of maximally symmetric vacua. The
corresponding low--energy supergravity admits intriguing spatially--flat
cosmological solutions where a scalar field is forced to climb up toward
the steep potential after an initial singularity\, and additional milder
terms can inject an inflationary phase during the ensuing descent. We show
that\, in the resulting power spectra of scalar perturbations\, an
infrared suppression is typically followed by a pre--inflationary peak
that reflects the end of the climbing phase and can lie well apart from
the approximately scale invariant profile. A first look at WMAP9 raw data
shows that\, while the chi-squared fits for the low--l CMB angular power
spectrum are clearly compatible with an almost scale invariant behavior\,
they display nonetheless an eye--catching preference for this type of

DESCRIPTION:Description: The Lorentz signature of the spacetimes of special
and general relativity is a source of problems\nabsent in non-
relativistic theories. The absence of timelike excitations in relative
times in\nspectroscopy and the need of a sound formulation of the Cauchy
problem in field theory require a\nmetrological convention about the
instantaneous 3-spaces\, namely a clock synchronization convention.\nThis
can be done in a Wigner covariant way with a 3+1 splitting of spacetime\,
the use of radar\n4-coordinates centered on a timelike observer and the
separation of the non-local (non-measurable)\nrelativistic center of mass
of the 3-universe\, both in special relativistic inertial frames and in
(either\nspecial or general) relativistic non-inertial ones of globally
hyperbolic spacetimes. Only relative\nvariables are measurable: there is a
basic spatial non-separability already at the classical level.
In\nrelativistic quantum mechanics it is an obstruction to the
identification of subsystems and leads to\na theory of relativistic
entanglement strongly different from the non-relativistic one\, in which
Alice\nand Bob cannot be decoupled observers. In field theory the
separation of the relativistic center of\nmass may help in avoiding Haag
theorem\, but leads to extra problems for the definition of
particles\nbesides the known ones in non-inertial frames and in curved
spacetimes. In general relativity and\ncosmology the trace of the
extrinsic curvature (the York time) of the non-Euclidean 3-spaces is
a\ngauge variable to be fixed with a metrological convention: the dark
side (or at least part of it) of\nthe universe may be a relativistic

DESCRIPTION:Description: In M-theory\, the only AdS7 supersymmetric
solutions are AdS7 × S4 and its orbifolds. In this talk\, I will first
describe a classification of AdS7 supersymmetric solutions in type II
supergravity. While in IIB none exist\, in IIA with Romans mass (which
does not lift to M-theory) there are many new ones. Pure spinor methods
determine the metric and fluxes without the need for any Ansatz\, up to
solving a system of ODEs. The internal space M3 is an S2 fibration over an
interval. I will then propose the holographically dual (1\,0) CFTs in six
dimensions. It is conjectured that the AdS7 duals represent near-horizon
limits of NS5-D6-D8 systems in flat space. The new field theories arise as
endpoints of RG flows triggered by expectation values on the Higgs branch
of the (1\,0) theory describing multiple M5’s transverse to an orbifold

DESCRIPTION:Description: L'argomento del seminario sarà una sintesi dei
risultati che ho ottenuto trattando in maniera analiticamente consistente
le proprietà dei rivelatori. E' evidente l'importanza di una descrizione
matematica dettagliata di tali proprietà. Purtroppo\, esclusa le mie
pubblicazioni\, niente altro è presente in letteratura e queste sono
considerate piuttosto complicate da alcuni\, e assolutamente illeggibili
da altri. La tecnica corrente\, in uso negli esperimenti\, (PAMELA
esclusa) è puramente empirica con largo uso di complessi Monte Carlo.
\nIl mia trattazione è derivata da metodi di largo uso nella Teoria
dell'Informazione\, metodi poco noti al di fuori di questa disciplina. Il
loro adattamento ai problemi connessi all'estrazione dell'informazione
dai dati dei rivelatori mi ha permesso di dimostrare un set abbastanza
ampio di proprietà generali estendibili ad un gran numero di problemi
differenti.\nE' superfluo spiegare (ovviamente ai teorici) i vantaggi e la
potenza dei sistemi analitici per trovare nuovi risultati o isolare
errori o imprecisioni in algoritmi supposti corretti\, inclusi i Monte
Carlo. \nUna delle correzioni che ho apportato ad un algoritmo\, di
frequente uso nei tacker al silicio\, è stata successivamente
perfettamente verificata in un test-beam dedicato. Ovviamente il test beam
non ha verificato la correzione\, che\, essendo ricavata analiticamente\,
era sicuramente giusta\, ma la consistenza delle ipotesi usate con le
proprietà fisiche dei rivelatori. \nUn altro aspetto delle proprietà
degli algoritmi di ricostruzione più usati\, che ho affrontato\,
riguarda le distribuzioni di probabilità dei loro risultati. Tali
algoritmi sono piuttosto complicati e le distribuzioni di probabilità
risultano fortemente non gaussiane. Purtroppo l'intero universo statistico
è dominato dai processi gaussiani\, l'abuso del teorema del limite
centrale porta facilmente a queste conclusioni. Ma cosa si perde se ci si
ostina a trattare un processo non gaussiano con metodi ottimi per processi
gaussiani?\nNelle ricostruzioni di tracce si assume sempre di essere in
presenza di probabilità gaussiane\, anche se molti dati sperimentali
contraddicono questa ipotesi\, il loro intrinseco significato è
generalmente trascurato.\nPer lo sviluppo di un sistema di ricostruzione
di tracce realistico (non gaussiano) ha avuto bisogno di altri parametri\,
estratti dai dati\, oltre alle distribuzioni di probabilità degli
algoritmi. L'estrazione di questi parametri e' stata possibile per mezzo
sviluppi analitici precedenti.\nI risultati del metodo realistico
(ovviamente molto più complicato di quello dei minimi quadrati) sono
sorprendenti. Le precisioni ottenute sono due o tre volte migliori dei
metodi convenzionali. Ma più inaspettato è il modo con cui le
probabilità realistiche fanno accedere ai corretti parametri della
traccia in presenza di grandi deviazioni dovute al rumore.\nURL:

DESCRIPTION:Description: Holographic techniques have been instrumental in
understanding certain aspects of strongly correlated systems\, both in
high energy and condensed matter physics. One of the most interesting
applications of holography in the condensed matter setting is the study of
quantum critical points exhibiting Lifshitz or hyperscaling violating
Lifshitz symmetry. I will present a general method for systematically
constructing the holographic dictionary for both Lifshitz and hyperscaling
violating Lifshitz backgrounds with arbitrary dynamical exponents and
for a large class of bottom up models admitting such backgrounds. This
allows us to determine quite generically various physical properties of
the dual non-relativistic systems\, such as the spectrum of operators\,
the holographic Ward identities\, the conformal anomalies\, renormalized

DESCRIPTION:Description: We investigate the hydrostatic equilibrium of
stellar structure\nby taking into account the modified Lane'-Emden
equation coming out from\nf(R)-gravity. Such an equation is obtained in
metric approach by\nconsidering the Newtonian limit of f(R)-gravity\,
which gives rise to a\nmodified Poisson equation\, and then introducing a
relation between\npressure and density with polytropic index n. The
modified equation\nresults an integro-differential equation\, which\, in
the limit of General\nRelativity becomes the standard Lane'-Emden
equation. We find the radial\nprofiles of gravitational potential by
solving for some values of n. The\ncomparison of solutions with those
coming from General Relativity shows\nthat they are compatible and
physically relevant.\nThis analysis gives rise to unstable modes not
present in the standard\nJeans analysis (derived assuming Newtonian
gravity as weak filed limit of\nf(R)=R). In this perspective\, we discuss
several self-gravitating\nastrophysical systems whose dynamics could be

dimensional square lattice.\nThe non-interacting model is ``integrable''
and solvable via\nKasteleyn theory\, but interactions destroy
integrability and have\nprevented up to now a rigorous understanding.\nBy
using Constructive Renormalization Group\nwe prove that all the moments
of the height difference converge to those\nof the Gaussian Free Field.
Remarkably\, dimer-dimer correlation\nfunctions are instead not universal
and\ndecay with a critical exponent that depends on the
interaction\nstrength. The height difference takes the form of a non-
local\nfermionic operator\, consisting of a sum of fermionic monomials
along\nan arbitrary path\; this path-independence plays a crucial

DESCRIPTION:Description: Matrix Models have a strong history of success in
describing\na variety of situations\, from nuclei spectra to conduction
in\nmesoscopic systems\, from strongly interacting systems to
various\naspects of mathematical physics\, from holographic models
to\nsupersymmetric theories in the localization limit. Traditionally\,
the\nrequirement of base invariance has lead to a factorization of
the\neigenvalue and eigenvector distribution and\, in turn\, to
the\nconclusion that invariant models describe extended systems. Moreover
\,\nWigner-Dyson statistics for the eigenvalues is a hallmark of
\neigenvector delocalization. We show that deviations of the
eigenvalue\nstatistics from the Wigner-Dyson universality reflects itself
on the\neigenvector distribution and that a gap in the eigenvalue
density\nbreaks the U(N) symmetry to a smaller one. This spontaneous
symmetry\nbreaking means that egeinvectors become localized to a sub-
manifold of \nthe Hilbert space and that the system looses
ergodicity.\nWe also consider models with log-normal weight\, such as
those emerging\nin Chern-Simons and ABJM theories. Their eigenvalue
distribution is\nintermediate between Wigner-Dyson and Poissonian\, which
candidates\nthese models for describing a system intermediate between the
extended\nand localized phase\, such as at the Anderson
Metal/Insulator\nTransition. We show that they have a much richer energy
landscape than\nexpected\, with their partition functions decomposable in
a large\nnumber of equilibrium configurations\, growing exponentially with
the\nmatrix rank. We will discuss the meaning of this energy landscape
and\nits implication\, arguing that this structure is a reflection of the
\nnon-trivial (multi-fractal) eigenvector statistics.\nURL:

DESCRIPTION:Description: Precise theoretical predictions for Drell-Yan and
the Higgs boson\nproduction play an important role to put the Standard
Model of particle\nphysics in firm footing. Often the fixed order
predictions are plagued by\nlarge logarithms resulting from certain
kinematical regions or from\nunphysical scales such as renormalization and
factorization scales. The\nsolution to this problem is provided by the
resummation.\nIn this talk\, we will discuss QCD amplitudes and it's
factorization\nproperties and the role of renormalization group invariance
in order to\nunderstand the soft gluon contributions to both the DY and
the Higgs boson\nproductions up to N3LO level for the LHC. Using the
universality of the\nsoft distribution function we obtain the threshold
corrections of DY at\nN3LO using the results for the Higgs boson
production\, for the first time.\nAlso the full N3LO result for the Higgs
boson production is recently\navailable.\nThese corrections reduce the
renormalization scale uncertainties\nsignificantly in the canonical range
[mH/4 \, 2 mH]. We will present a\nnovel approach to further reduce the
uncertainty arising from the\nrenormalization scale by systematically
resumming the renormalization\ngroup (RG) accessible logarithms to all
orders in the strong coupling\nconstant. We will also demonstrate
numerically the improvement over the\nfixed order predictions.\nURL:

DESCRIPTION:Description: This talk is about of the computations of the
correlation numbers in Minimal Liouville Gravity (MLG). We use the
conjecture that the Douglas equation is applicable to the Minimal
Liouville Gravity as well as to the Matrix Models of 2d gravity. We find
how to choose the desired solution of the Douglas equation and an
appropriate form of the resonance transformation from the KdV times to the
Liouville coupling constants to satisfy the needed constraints of
MLG.\nFor this aim we use the connection of the String equation with the
corresponding Frobenius manifold structure. We find the necessary solution
of this equation. The solution of the Douglas equation has a very simple
form in the flat coordinates on the Frobenious manifold.\nUsing this
solution and the suitable choosen resonance transformation lead to the
results which are consistent with the selection rules of the models of

theories are\nof major interest for two main reasons: the presence of
integrable\nstructures and their duality with 2d CFTs (Liouville & Toda).
The\nmathematical methods employed to study these theories are
reminiscent\nof some of the tools used to study integrable statistical
systems:\nHecke algebras\, symmetric polynomials\, Bethe equation
machinery (DDV\nprocedure\, Yang-Yang functional\,...)\, ODE/IM\,... After

DESCRIPTION:Description: The Abelian Sandpile Model is a model for
avalanches in\nout-of-equilibrium statistical mechanics\, paradigm of
self-organised\ncriticality. In the 90's\, mostly Dhar and collaborators
elucidated a\nseries of remarkable exact results in this model\, which
related to\nvarious branches of combinatorics. Among other things\, a
group\nstructure on the configurations of the system emerged.\n\nThe
simplest geometry is a square portion of the 2D square lattice. In\nthis
case\, the group-identity configuration shows\, in the\nthermodynamic
limit\, convergence to a peculiar fractal shape\, composed\nof infinitely-
many polygons\, filled with different bi-periodic\npatterns. The
determination of this shape has been an open problem for\na few decades\,

additional terms with respect to the ideal form in states of global
thermodynamic equilibrium in flat spacetime with non-vanishing
acceleration and vorticity. These terms are of quantum origin and they are
usually tiny but they can become important in extreme situations. Unlike
usual thermodynamic pressure and energy density\, they depend on the
explicit form of the stress-energy operator\, implying that different
operators are thermodynamically inequivalent. They persist in
gravitational fields along with further corrections proportional to the
Riemann tensor with thermal coefficients depending on temperature and

DESCRIPTION:Description: We introduce a new type of quantum mechanical
theory called Spin Matrix theory. It is a generalization of nearest-
neighbor spin chain theories. We show that Spin Matrix theory arise from
N=4 super Yang-Mills theory near certain zero-temperature critical points.
We find that Spin Matrix theory contains a variety of phases that mimics
that of the AdS/CFT correspondence\, and hence gives a quantum mechanical

of the Higgs properties\, we investigate the parameter space of the model

important restrictions on the $t \\rightarrow c h$ decay rate provided the
charged scalar of the\n model is light. We conclude that rates of
these flavour-changing top decays are beyond the expected sensitivity\n

DESCRIPTION:Description: Golden Ratio $\\phi=(1+\\sqrt{5})/2$\, also called
Divine Proportion\, is the most\nperfect irrational number\, and it has
inspired people for many\ncenturies.\nIt is best approximated by the
ratios of the two neighbouring integer\nnumbers from the celebrated
Fibonacci sequence 1\,1\,2\,3\,5\,8\,13\,21\,...\,\nthe so-called Kepler
ratios.\nWe show that dynamical exponents\, characterising universal
scaling of\nspace-time fluctuations of the slow\nrelaxation modes in non-
equilibrium systems are all\ncharacterized by the Kepler ratios.\nKepler
ratios\, i.e. z= 2/1\, 3/2\, 5/3\, 8/5\, ...\\phi\nthus form an infinite
discrete family of non-equilibrium\nuniversality classes. First two
members of the family are well known\,\nas diffusion universality z=2 \,
and Kardar-Parisi-Zhang z=3/2\nuniversality classes.\nOur findings are
based on mode-coupling theory which predicts also the universal\nscaling
functions\, which are completely fixed by macroscopic\nproperties of a
system. A simple statistical model which allows to see higher\nFibonacci

DESCRIPTION:Description: One of the foundations of statistical physics is
that only minimal information is required for the description of
macroscopic systems.\nResearch in quantum one-dimensional integrable
systems out of equilibrium has recently revealed relaxation towards a non-
thermal\nstatistical ensemble that violates this principle due to the
presence of an infinite number of local integrals of motion. The
information\ncontent of this ensemble remains however a riddle. By
studying the dynamics after suddenly switching-off the interactions in an
isolated\nquantum system (a so-called quantum quench)\, we will show that
the time evolution under a massive Gaussian field theory erases all
memory\nof non-Gaussian correlations that are present in the initial
state\, keeping information only about the initial two-point
correlation\nfunction. In the massless case on the other hand\, we will
show that an enormous amount of information about the initial state
survives\neven at infinitely large times\, in contrast to earlier
expectations. We provide an intuitive explanation of the above results
based on the\ncluster decomposition principle and the hydrodynamic
character of the evolution. Lastly we will discuss applications to cold
atom\nexperiments and generalisations to lattice systems and spin chains

annihilating Dark Matter. In particular the search for monochromatic lines
is of great interest\, as from the particle physics perspective it allows
to determine the DM mass. And from the astrophysical perspective it is
unlikely to be mimicked by a compact source. \nI will address the general
question\, under which circumstances in a given model a line is in
principle observable given a finite instrument resolution. Two mechanisms
which allow to see such gamma line features will be presented and the
corresponding model realisations discussed.\nI will discuss how line
searches open the window of opportunity to scrutinise possible observed
continuous gamma ray excesses. As concrete examples the Galactic Center

as black hole hair that may be relevant to the black hole information
paradox. We will make use of factorization theorems for infrared

a quantum junction with the geometry of star graph. The system is in a
non-equilibrium steady state\, characterised by the temperatures and
chemical potentials of the heat reservoirs connected to the edges of the
graph. The study of the non-equilibrium expectation values of the particle
and heat currents reveals that the junction operates as energy
converter\, transmuting heat to chemical potential energy and vice versa.
We show that the efficiency of this process behaves as that of a heat
engine. In the second part of the seminar we describe the full counting
statistics relative to the particle transport in the system and discuss
the physical meaning of the underlying probability distribution.We discuss

type-II orientifold models by non-geometric fluxes. In particular\, we
consider the family of P fluxes\, that are related by T-duality
transformations to the S-dual of the Q flux. We determine the rule that
transforms a given flux in this family under a single T-duality
transformation. This allows to derive a complete expression for the
superpotential for both the IIA and the IIB theory for the particular case
of a T^6/[Z_2xZ_2] orientifold. We then consider the tadpoles induced by
these fluxes\, and we determine all the exotic branes that have to be
introduced in order to cancel them. This is achieved by determining a
universal transformation rule under T-duality satisfied by all the branes

amplitudes that contribute at NLO to the decay of a Higgs boson to three
partons (or equivalently the production of a Higgs boson with a jet in
hadronic collisions). We concentrate on planar corrections\, we discuss
the structure of the amplitude in terms of dimensionally regularized
Feynman integrals\, the reduction to the master integrals and their
analytic calculation with the differential equations method. Beside the
more common case in which the solution can be expressed in terms of

DESCRIPTION:Description: The observation that the renormalization constants
in minimal subtraction schemes are independent on mass scales led to
efficient ways to compute renormalization\ngroup functions at high orders
in perturbation theory. In particular\, calculations drastically simplify
by using the trick of infrared rearrangement\, supplemented\nwith the
subtraction of the infrared singularities of each Feynman diagram by means
of the proper counterterms\, known as the R* operation introduced in the
80s by\nChetyrkin\, Tkachov and Smirnov. This method is still quite
complicated at high loop order\, because of the large number of diagrams\,
and it was improved by\nChetyrkin with the so-called global R*
operation\, which generates a single counterterm to subtract all the
infrared poles. In this talk I will review the main\nideas of this method

DESCRIPTION:Description: We test a class of holographic models for the very
early Universe against cosmological observations and find that they are
competitive to the standard cold dark matter model with a
cosmological\nconstant (LambdaCDM) of cosmology. These models are based on
three-dimensional perturbative superrenormalizable quantum field theory
(QFT)\, and\, while they predict a different power spectrum from\nthe
standard power law used in LambdaCDM\, they still provide an excellent fit
to the data within their regime of validity. Observations can be used to
exclude some QFT models\, while we also find\nmodels satisfying all
phenomenological constraints: the data rule out the dual theory being a
Yang-Mills theory coupled to fermions only but allow for a Yang-Mills
theory coupled to nonminimal\nscalars with quartic interactions.\nURL:

DESCRIPTION:Description: Recent results by the LHCb experiment provide a
pattern of possible deviations from Standard model predictions in the
decays of b hadrons mediated by the b->sl+l- transition\, which occurs
through loop diagrams with high sensitivity to New Physics. In
particular\, the hint for lepton flavour non-universality seen in the
measurement of the BR(B+>K+mu+mu-)/BR(B+->K+e+e-) ratio has been confirmed
very recently in the B0->K*0l+l- mode. Indications for a breaking of
lepton flavour universality also emerged\, both at B factories and at
LHCb\, at tree level in B semileptonic decays when comparing the tau and
mu final states. In this seminar we will review the batch of experimental
results and the possible interpretations in terms of new physics

DESCRIPTION:Description: When a Dirac semimetal is subject to a circularly
polarized laser\, it is\npredicted that the Dirac cone splits into two
Weyl nodes and a non-equilibrium\ntransient state called the Floquet Weyl
semimetal is realized. We focus on the\npreviously unexplored low
frequency regime\, where the upper and lower Dirac\nbands resonantly
couples with each other through multi-photon processes\, which\nis a
realistic situation in solid state ultrafast pump-probe
experiments. We\nfind a series of new Weyl nodes emerging in pairs when
the Floquet replica bands\nhybridize with each other. The nature of the
Floquet Weyl semimetal with regard\nto the number\, locations\, and
monopole charges of these Weyl nodes is highly\ntunable with the amplitude
and frequency of the light. We derive an effective\nlow energy theory
using Brillouin-Wigner expansion and further regularise the\ntheory on a
cubic lattice. The monopole charges obtained from the low-
energy\nHamiltonian can be reconciled with the number of Fermi arcs on the
lattice which\nwe find numerically.\nURL:

DESCRIPTION:Description: The notion of “entwinement” originated in the
context of holography and was proposed to characterize the entanglement
between internal gauged degrees of freedom in a quantum field theory. I
will discuss how entwinement can formally be defined through the replica
method in terms of a non-local gauge-invariant object\, and apply this
method to the computation of entwinement in symmetric orbifold conformal
field theories in 1+1 dimensions. Such a theory appears in the weak
coupling limit of the D1-D5 string theory which is dual to AdS_3 at strong
coupling. In this context\, I will show how this novel quantity measures
the lengths\, in units of the AdS scale\, of non-minimal geodesics present
in excited states of the system\, which are gravitationally described as
conical defects and the zero mass BTZ black hole.\nURL:

DESCRIPTION:Description: Only ideally quantum systems are closed\, i.e.
isolated from the rest\, since they do always interact with the external
environment\, unavoidably affecting its coherence properties and inducing
noise effects\, leading to so-called open quantum systems.\nHere\, we will
first show this deleterious role of the environment where some
information coming from the system is irreversibly lost. Then\, we will
discuss how there might be a back-flow of information from the environment
to the system\, with the dynamics showing noise time correlations and
memory (non-Markovian) effects.\nHowever\, reversing this traditional
point of view\, the environment may play also a crucial positive role in
remarkably enhancing the quantum system performance to achieve a given
task\, e.g. noise-assisted transmission of energy and information.
Additionally\, one can often exploit optimal control theory to manipulate
part of the environment\, and steer the system dynamics while being only
restricted by the so-called quantum speed limit. Moreover\, since the
environment does continuously 'observe' the physical system\, quantum Zeno
phenomena may also arise\, and be analytically studied in terms of
stochastic quantum measurements by large deviation theory. Finally\, the
fragility of the coherence properties of the dynamical evolution against
the environment noise can become an efficient tool to convert the system
into a quantum probe of external complex (even classical) objects\,
towards novel quantum sensing schemes.\nAll these theoretical analytical
and numerical results\, beyond their foundational role for a deeper
understanding of quantum physics\, have been also experimentally tested
using several platforms including photonics\, atomic and bio-molecular
systems\, with very promising and powerful real-life applications in quite
different fields ranging from quantum communication to quantum biology\,

theories with a finite density of fundamental matter is still not
satisfactorily understood from first principles. \n\nIn this talk I will

non-relativistic and governed by the charge density\, which in the string
theory picture is given by the dominance of fundamental strings dissolved
