Weekly Meeting

Europe/Rome
Davide Fiorina (GSSI & INFN)

● Previous week recap

Previous week recap (by person) — week of this meeting

Davide P.

  • Planned PMT testing ramp-up: tutorial on procedures/data analysis with Stefano and Rita S, plus organizing the first test session.
  • Opened AU-team follow-ups on RAD7 shipping from LNF and radon studies (via Robert Gregorio).
  • Confirmed key meetings: general meeting (Thu 23, 14:00) and INFN referees update (week of May 4).

Davide F.

  • No definitive fix found for GEM tensioning; decided to test current “acceptable” tensioning before further rework.
  • Received Hall F copper-box transport quote (€6.8k) and identified need for a portable crane for internal handling (~€2k).
  • Tracked dewar wheel retrofit at LNGS workshop (expected ~2 weeks) with support from Maccarrone for testing.
  • Prepared DAQ pre-commissioning by receiving all DAQ equipment at LNF (expected today).
  • Selected a new oxygen-sensor vendor (+€2k) and proceeded.

Giorgio

  • Continued digitisation optimisation (Luan) and moved toward ER/NR discrimination; noted lack of oxygen in Run4 low gain.
  • Engaged PMT analysis support (Rita Sousa) and awaited Federico’s updated PMT characterisation code/README.
  • Planned retrieval/inspection of GEMs and cathodes from magazzino.
  • Requested officina production of the field-cage hole-punching tool.
  • Finalised data analysis for the V-bond saturation paper and awaited PubCom reply on the FC paper.

Stefano

  • Secured Münster availability to provide an Rb-83 source (free); started resolving container and lab-activity constraints (container specs requested from Riccardo Biondi).
  • Confirmed DAQ camera issue is camera-level; fix drafted but still unvalidated under bright conditions.
  • Resolved trigger-module MAC-address blocker; rescheduled tests pending Herman’s return.
  • Noted missing Renga valves at HdM/LNGS.

Giulia

  • Reported Field Cage and GEM simulation status; identified remaining geometry misalignments to resolve with Davide F.
  • Continued improving LIME 55Fe simulations with realistic calibration geometry.

● DavideP report

- May 4th, meeting with referee 15:00;
- by May 8th, insert SJ request in CSN2 DB (meeting May 22nd);

● DavideF report

  • First GEM stack: mitigation for the tensioning has been tested; the latest configuration uses 4 mm bending of the external frame. If frame relaxation causes loss of GEM tension, a more drastic solution will be needed, but the current expectation is that this should be sufficient.

  • Nylon structure / copper box interface: Cesidio identified an alignment issue between the nylon structure and the calibration holes on the copper box. The mitigation is to change the position of the nylon crossbar.

  • Field cage: the punching tool is working as intended. After soldering the resistors, the team will proceed with the assembly test.

  • Second GEM stack: assembly slot scheduled for Thursday.

  • Cathodes from CERN: still waiting for the new cathodes, since the previous ones were not produced according to the design.

  • O₂ sensors: procurement is proceeding smoothly with the new vendor.

● Giorgio report

Analysis

  • Meeting with Melba Elisabetta and Stefano to better define the neutron measurement direction
  • Students at LNF will likely provide the barreling correction (part of their lab course)
  • This Thursday meeting
  • Davide and I will try to meet Rob and Ali this week (hopefully)

LNF

  • 4 PMTs tested by Giulia
  • Met with Rita Sousa to analyze PMT data
  • LNF has 4k or 3k in "consumo" and 2k in "altro consumo". 7.5k are subjudice.
