DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Rolf Shilling (Johannes Gutenberg University\, Mainz
\, Germany)\nWe will show that extreme confinement of fluids has\n\nsignif
icant consequences. First\, thermodynamic properties follow from a\n\nlowe
r-dimensional fluid with renormalized interactions. This implies\, e.g.\,\
n\nthat a phase transition point shifts proportional to the square of the\
n\nconfinement length. Second\, the equation of state\, the density profil
e\,\n\netc. can be obtained by a thermodynamic perturbation theory. Third\
, the\n\nequilibration of the fluid slows down. The relaxation times exhib
it\n\npower-law divergence with exponents which differ from those expected
from\n\nvan Hoveâ s work on equilibration. Molecular dynamic calculation
s will be\n\npresented confirming the predicted exponents.\n\n \nhttps://
