ChNPP Unit 4 accident occurred April 26, 1986 was the most severe one in nuclear power and ranked with level 7 as having very dangerous consequences. For 25 years of experience gained in nuclear power worldwide no one was expecting that accident with similar root causes may take place in one of the most advanced countries in nuclear power. In this lecture some common features of both accidents are discussed along with experience gained and their influence on nuclear power development based on public fears and expectations
