Description
The cyclotron facilities at iThemba LABS have been used for more than a quarter of a century for radioisotope production, nuclear physics research, as well as for neutron and proton therapy. During this period continual upgrades and improvements were implemented to satisfy the needs of the different user groups. In the past 8 years the current intensity of the 66 MeV proton beam for isotope production was increased from 100 mA to 250 mA. The status of the facilities as well as proposals for new facilities for proton therapy, isotope production and for the acceleration of radioactive ion beams will be discussed.
