Description
ABSTRACT

In this project we want to investigate signals of relic particles from the Big-Bang, corresponding to the particular class of Cold Dark Matter candidates named WIMPs (Weakly Interacting Massive Particles) with high mass (of the order of few GeV to about TeV). In particular, we will consider the case in which their interaction would produce recoil nuclei. A positive model independent result has been obtained by DAMA experiment using highly radiopure NaI(Tl). Different target-materials, techniques and approaches were also used to investigate this field of research at some extent: for instance the use of bolometric detectors (Ge or Si) or the use of liquid Argon or Xenon providing both Ionization and Scintillation signals . In this project we propose to use an alternative technique: a continuously sensitive Bubble Chamber weakly superheated. Results obtained by the COUPP Collaboration (Fermilab) will be reviewed.
